For me, Büchner Haus Academy grew from the years I spent teaching makeup masterclasses across Australia and New Zealand.

I have seen the moment someone creates a look they love and suddenly feels confident in their own skin. I have had people sit in my classes and say, “I have never felt beautiful until today.” Those moments stay with you.

That is why education means so much to me. I want to help artists build the skill, confidence and knowledge to create that same feeling for their own clients. When a makeup artist understands skin, technique, communication and care, they can do more than apply makeup. They can help someone feel seen, comfortable and empowered.

Büchner Haus Academy is my way of contributing to something bigger. It is a place where students can learn seriously, build their portfolio from the beginning and step into the industry knowing they have something meaningful to offer.

The path forward.

For me, Büchner Haus Academy is the education pathway I always wanted to see available for aspiring makeup artists.

Over the years, I have taught makeup and beauty students across Australia, from the west coast to the east. During that time, I saw a clear gap. Many students who were passionate about makeup had to enter the industry through broader beauty qualifications, where makeup was only one part of the training.

While those pathways can be valuable, I often saw talented students graduate without the confidence, practical experience or technical standard they needed to feel truly industry-ready.

I wanted to help create something more focused, more supportive and more aligned with the real world of makeup artistry. A place where students are given time, guidance, hands-on experience and the space to make mistakes, refine their technique and grow.

Büchner Haus Academy represents everything I have wanted to offer students throughout my career: makeup-led education, practical training and a learning environment where future artists are genuinely supported to succeed.

The Academy we imagined.

When we met, we knew we shared a deep love and gratitude for what we get to do every day. We both believe beauty is about more than technique. It is about people, confidence, creativity and the way someone feels when they are truly seen.

After years of sharing ideas, teaching methods, industry experience and best practice, our vision became clear. We wanted to create an Academy that was about more than makeup. We wanted flexible learning, hands-on intensives, a Noosa HQ that feels like home, and a team who genuinely cares about beauty, people and education.

Büchner Haus Academy brings together everything we believe in: small classes, personal support, skin-first artistry, real industry skills, portfolio development and business education that helps students understand what is possible.

We believe makeup and beauty can create more than a job. They can create confidence, flexibility, creativity, connection and a career that works around the life you want to build.

Our mission is to keep learning, growing and evolving with the industry, so we can bring the best of beauty, artistry and business into the Academy and pass that on to our students.

Büchner Haus Academy was created to be more than a place to study makeup. We wanted to build an Academy where students feel supported, challenged, inspired and truly seen.

Our work is built around four values: create, express, empower and belong. These words shape the way we teach, the way we design our courses and the kind of learning environment we want every student to experience.

Create

We created this Academy because we believe makeup education should feel practical, beautiful and full of possibility. Our students come here to create too: to build skill, develop a portfolio, explore their artistry and bring their ideas to life through makeup, beauty and hands-on industry training.

Express

Makeup is art, identity and self-expression. We encourage our students to explore their own creative voice, not just copy a technique. Whether the work is bridal, editorial, screen, beauty, lashes or brows, we want students to understand the rules, then learn how to express their own style with confidence.

Empower

We believe the role of education is to equip artists with the knowledge, confidence and creativity to thrive. Our goal is to help students leave with practical skills, industry understanding and the confidence to create opportunities for themselves. Whether they dream of building a freelance business, working in TV and film, growing a bridal career or opening their own beauty space, we want every student to feel capable, prepared and supported as they take the next step in their journey.

Belong

We are creating a space where students from different ages, backgrounds and life stages feel welcome. Büchner Haus Academy is for people who want to learn seriously, whether they are starting fresh, changing careers, returning to the workforce or finally choosing something for themselves. We want our Academy to feel inclusive, encouraging and safe — a place where creativity belongs and people do too.

After 32 years as a hairdresser, meeting Adam at one of his makeup masterclasses reignited my passion for makeup. His training elevated my artistry and gave me the confidence, practical skills and belief to build something I never imagined possible.

What sets Adam apart is that he teaches far more than makeup. Through his mentoring, he gave me a proven framework to create and run my own masterclasses. My best friend Dianne later trained as a makeup artist too, and together we now travel across Western Australia delivering uplifting, confidence-building classes for women of all ages.

Four years ago, I attended one of Adam’s Makeup Masterclasses during a challenging season of postpartum motherhood, never imagining it would completely change the direction of my life. His talent, passion and encouragement reignited my love of makeup and gave me the confidence to pursue it professionally.

When Adam later returned to Ballarat, I had the opportunity to work alongside him across three of his masterclasses. Seeing how he combined makeup artistry, education and confidence-building inspired me to launch my own makeup classes, which have since grown into a thriving beauty business.
