Six months of makeup-led industry training.
This six-month, in-person program is designed for aspiring artists who want to explore makeup as a complete career pathway, not just one style, service or trend. Across two days a week at our Noosa HQ Academy, students develop the technical, creative and professional skills used across bridal, editorial, fashion, screen, TV, film, beauty and special effects makeup.
From the beginning, students work on real faces, learning how to analyse skin, prepare the complexion, build camera-ready bases, understand colour, refine application techniques and adapt their work for different clients, briefs and environments. The program moves through the key areas of professional makeup artistry, including bridal and event makeup, editorial and creative looks, screen and continuity work, character development, ageing, basic special effects, lashes, brows, male grooming, photoshoot preparation and working to industry standards.
Portfolio development is built into the program from the start. Students learn how to document their work, understand lighting, collaborate with models and photographers, and begin building visual proof of their skill as their artistry develops. This helps students see their progress, refine their direction and prepare for the kinds of opportunities they want to pursue.
Alongside practical artistry, we teach the business and professional skills behind the work. Students learn about kit planning, hygiene, client communication, pricing, quoting, bookings, social media, creative networking and what it takes to build a freelance career or step confidently into industry environments.
This program is for students who want to be challenged, supported and prepared. It is designed to help you build strong technique, creative confidence, a professional portfolio and a clear understanding of where makeup artistry can take you.
What you’ll learn to create
Bridal & Formal
Create polished, long-wear makeup for weddings, formals and special events. You’ll learn how to prepare the skin, build a beautiful base, design timeless looks, work to a client brief and adapt makeup for different ages, features, lighting and event conditions.
Editorial & Campaign
Develop makeup looks for fashion, editorial, beauty campaigns and creative shoots. You’ll learn how to interpret a brief, collaborate with photographers and stylists, create camera-ready skin and build looks that hold impact under studio lighting.
Screen, TV & Film
Understand how makeup performs on camera, under lights and across different screen environments. You’ll learn techniques for continuity, natural camera-ready makeup, male grooming, character work and adapting your application for film, television and content production.
Special Effects Foundations
Explore the foundations of special effects and character makeup, including ageing, bruising, wounds, texture, prosthetic basics and creative transformation. This gives students an introduction to the skills used across screen, theatre, Halloween, events and character-based work.
Skin Analysis & Preparation
Learn to assess skin type, tone, texture and condition before the first brush touches the face. You’ll develop a skin-first approach to preparation, product selection and application so your makeup looks polished, comfortable and professional in real life and on camera.
Colour Theory in Practice
Build confidence with undertones, colour matching, correction and balance across different skin tones. You’ll learn how to use colour theory practically, from foundation matching and concealing to blush, lip, eye and creative colour choices.
Kit & Hygiene Standards
Learn how to build, organise and maintain a professional working kit. We cover product selection, hygiene, sanitation, brush care, disposables, set etiquette and safe working practices so students understand how to work professionally with real clients.
Portfolio Development
Build your portfolio from the beginning of the program. You’ll learn how to document your work, understand lighting, prepare for shoots and create visual proof of your developing skills across bridal, editorial, screen, creative and beauty-focused makeup.
Business of Makeup
Technique is only one part of becoming a working artist. We teach the business behind makeup so students understand how to price their services, quote confidently, manage bookings and communicate professionally with clients.
We also teach students how to create bookings, not just manage them. From building a professional portfolio and using social media with intention to networking, client follow-up, referrals, collaborations and local marketing, we help students understand how to build a calendar of real makeup work.
Whether your goal is bridal, editorial, TV, film, events or freelance artistry, we want you to leave with the confidence to create opportunities, attract clients and start building income from your skills.
After Graduation
Where this program can lead
This program is designed to help students build the skills, confidence and portfolio they need to begin stepping into the makeup industry with direction.
Students may use their training to pursue freelance bridal and event work, editorial and campaign assisting, TV and film opportunities, salon or studio roles, beauty retail, content creation, brand collaborations or their own mobile makeup business.
The goal is not just to finish with new techniques. The goal is to leave with a growing portfolio, a clear understanding of your services, a professional kit direction, pricing foundations, client communication skills and the confidence to start creating real opportunities within the industry.
Who it suits: This program is for aspiring makeup artists who are ready to commit to six months of focused, in-person training. How long is the program?
The Professional Makeup Artistry Program runs for six months, two days a week, from our Noosa HQ Academy. Each cohort is capped at 10 students so we can offer a more personal, hands-on learning experience with regular feedback and support.

It is designed to support you from foundation skills through to industry readiness.
Can I study makeup artistry online?
The Professional Makeup Artistry Program is delivered in person at our Noosa HQ Academy, because this level of training requires hands-on practice, real-time correction and consistent support.
For students who need a more flexible study option, our Makeup, Lash and Brow Artistry Course combines online learning with a five-day in-person intensive in selected locations. This allows students to complete theory online, then bring their skills to life through practical, supported training.
Do I need previous makeup experience?
No previous professional training is required. This program is designed for students who are ready to learn, practise and commit to developing their skills seriously. We start with strong foundations, then build your confidence across bridal, editorial, screen, TV, film, creative and freelance makeup.
Will I build a portfolio?
Yes. Portfolio development begins from the start of the program. You will learn how to document your work, understand lighting, prepare for shoots and begin creating visual proof of your skills across different areas of makeup artistry.
